How the matching works
AI freight matching that shows its reasoning.
CharterDeck's matching isn't a keyword search. It reads real cargo and vessel information, understands the fit, and explains why an option works — or why it doesn't.
- Structured first
- Free-text enquiries and positions become clean records, so like is compared with like.
- Compatibility, not keywords
- Capacity, type, gear, port and laycan — the constraints that actually decide a fixture.
- Explainable ranking
- Every option carries the reasons it fits, and the gaps that still need checking.
Structured cargo and vessel data
Enquiries and positions arrive as free text in email and attachments. The AI turns them into clean, structured records so like is compared with like.
Real compatibility, not keyword overlap
Matching weighs the factors that decide whether a cargo and vessel actually fit:
- Capacity and stowage against the stem
- Vessel type for the commodity
- Gear where the port needs it
- Port and draft limits
- Laycan and position feasibility
A score on its own is not an answer. Useful matching explains why an option fits, what could add cost or delay, and what's still missing — so the choice is yours to make.
Missing-information detection
When a field is absent or ambiguous, the AI flags it — so a match is never quietly built on a guess.
Explainable, risk-aware ranking
Options are ranked with the reasons shown: why each fits, what could add cost or delay, and what still needs attention. The highest score isn't automatically the best option — the trade-offs are laid out so the choice is clear.
