Project cargo & breakbulk

Project cargo and breakbulk chartering, planned around your piece list.

Steel, machinery, heavy units and out-of-gauge pieces. We find the multipurpose or heavy-lift ship whose cranes, holds and deck suit every piece, and your broker negotiates the charter. Our AI-supported system matches your piece list against ships' lifting and stowage data in seconds.

Piece list first
Weights and dimensions of every unit drive the ship choice.
Lifting capacity
Ship's cranes, combined lifts and outreach checked against the heaviest piece.
Stowage and securing
Hold and deck space, tank-top strength and lashing, planned early.

What we need to find a ship

Project cargo is chartered on its piece list. The more exact it is, the better the ship choice and the price.

  • Piece list: each unit's weight, length, width and height
  • Heaviest lift and centre of gravity where known
  • Whether pieces can stow on deck
  • Load and discharge ports, and berth equipment
  • Laycan and any delivery deadline
  • Securing and survey requirements

Terms that matter in project cargo

Project charters often use liner terms or free in and out terms with stevedoring, lashing and securing allocated clearly. Deck cargo is usually carried at shipper's risk unless agreed otherwise. We make sure these allocations are explicit in the recap, so nobody discovers them at the discharge port.

Questions, answered

What is breakbulk shipping?
Shipping cargo as individual pieces, bundles or packages loaded one by one, rather than as a free-flowing bulk cargo. Steel products and machinery are typical breakbulk cargoes.
What is an MPP vessel?
A multipurpose ship designed to carry breakbulk, project cargo and bulk, usually with its own heavy cranes that can often be combined for heavier lifts.
What information do you need for project cargo?
A piece list with the weight and dimensions of each unit, the load and discharge ports, the laycan and any deck stowage or securing constraints.
